Kylie Jenner chose profit over privacy

I recently read about Meta teaming up with Kylie Jenner to market their Meta-glasses. A goldmine for Meta, for sure. It will legitimize and popularize the glasses for many in the younger female generation. Up until now I would guess the glasses has appealed most to the male population, as with a lof of this kind of new tech.

For those who don't know; Meta-glasses is sunglasses that has an integrated camera that can film, take pictures and answer questions through AI. It has also been revealed that Meta built technology that can identify and serve information about people you look at through the glasses. It has not yet been released, but I guess they are just waiting for the perfect timing. When the world is busy with war and politics. As seems to be the strategy for a lot of controversial tech lately.

I don't see a single use case for these glasses other than to invade our privacy. Unless you have some kind of disability (like blindness) or in a corporate environment. We already have a generation of youth that wont let loose in the fear of being filmed and going viral for something stupid they did that one time (we've all been there).

What will happend when everyone walks around with glasses filming every interaction? People will stop trusting eachother. All social interaction will be superficial. We'll end up moving through life like robots. Too afraid to do or say anything embarrassing or socially unnacceptable.

I guess I shouldnt be surprised that a person who grew up exposing her whole life on TV, and then later built her career by sharing her life on social media, would see the problem. But I cant help but wish they would just open their eyes, wipe away the dollar signs blocking their vision and understand what kind of society they are helping to create.

The grip big tech has on celebrities, influencers and politicians is really alarming. These figures have millions upon millions of fans who will buy into whatever they do without question, and the "tech bros" know exactly how to use that to their advantage.

I don't think there has been any time in modern history when indenpendent and critical thinking has been more crucial. Take a step back and look at what's really behind their actions. Things are not always what they seem.
